resting metabolic rate test winnipeg
evaluate how efficiently your body burns calories
Why has my weight loss plateaued?
How many calories do I need to gain muscle or lose body fat?
How much should I eat to maintain my current body composition?
The answer lies in your resting metabolic rate. Your RMR measures your metabolism by calculating exactly how many calories your body burns at rest in a 24-hour period.
At Body Measure, we eliminate the guesswork. By measuring your RMR, you will know exactly how many calories you need to reach your health goals. We can help you customize your diet and fitness programs in order to suit your individual metabolic needs. Whether you want to lose or gain weight, build muscle, or maintain your current healthy weight, knowing your RMR helps you stay in that optimal calorie-burning zone.
Beyond simply telling you how many calories to eat, the RMR can also alert us to a slowed metabolism, which could explain past frustrated attempts to lose weight. This could be a result of thyroid issues, hormonal imbalance, or in men, low testosterone. The team at Body Measure is ready to help you make adjustments to correct or compensate for a slower metabolism so you can still reach your goals and live the life you desire.
How does it work?
We use the KORR Metabolic Analyzer to measure RMR. Every calorie you consume requires a fixed amount of oxygen to be converted to energy. The KORR Analyzer measures the oxygen you consume to calculate calories burned.
Fixed by a nose-clip, the KORR MetaBreather uses two one-way valves to ensure only fresh air is inhaled and all exhaled gas passes through the hose into the machine where it is analyzed. It’s a simple and non-invasive way to measure exactly how efficiently your body is burning calories.
An RMR test is right for you if:
- You want to lose weight. More precise than RMR formulas, this test actually measures the number of calories you burn so you know how much you can – and should – eat to lose weight.
- You want a comprehensive picture of your health. Along with the DEXA body scan and the FibroScan, RMR testing is part of the most accurate snapshot you can take of your health at a given moment in time.
- You see your health as a long-term investment. Your RMR results will help you make informed choices for your future. With regular monitoring, we can help you make small adjustments to keep your health on track long-term.
At Body Measure, we help you interpret the data so you aren’t left wondering what to do next. Let our team be your partners in health and wellness.
